Something New!

This is a new picture technique 'Color Me Mine' is now doing! We can now add a photo of your choice to your pottery of choice! It just has to be put on a special piece of paper that can be fired in the kiln. Cool, huh!?! This is a dog bowl sample that I painted to show the new technique off. Keep an eye out for two other samples!!

Complete!

The second 1/2 of the quilt rack is completed! Actually, it's been completed for a bit now. I just haven't gotten a picture until now ;) Samantha's mommy helped with this side! Thanks, Trista! Here it is with all of Samantha's blankets!!

1/2 done!

My sister had this fun idea to paint this, once lighter stained, quilt rack to match Sammy's room! It took a fare amount of sanding, but I managed to do an okay job at re-staining it in a cherry color. It's not as dark as the rest of the wood in her room, but it'll still look good. As you can see I've smudged the stain in areas, because I touched it while trying to paint the designs :( 1/2 of it is done. Another 1/2 to go, plus the sealing and reassembling, and only 3 weeks to do it in :0

For a friend....

Jenna,
Not only have you been a great person to work with, but you have been such a great friend and mentor. God truely put you in my life for a purpose, and I am so glad He did. Thank you for all of the encouragement you have given to me. I hope you like your bowl!

Happy 'late' birthday!

To my mother dearest,

I realize this is very very late, but better late then never I guess. At least I did remember your birthday ;) Hope you like your clock! I love you very much!

XOXOXO,
Krissy

p.s. I left the clock parts out so they don't get bent while traveling ;)

It's complete!! O yeah!

Alas, it is finished :) Well, technically I should have 8 bowls, but 4 will do just fine. The colors I chose: Brown, Blue, Yellowish, and a whitish color. I really dig blue and yellow together, and brown will be my base color throughout the house. I also want punches of other colors scattered throughout as well :)

Final Unveiling!

The colors came out different then the original, but not too bad :)

Monday, May 18, 2009

I've been summoned!

Summoned to paint that is! =-) Someone came into PW the other day and asked if we could replicate a plate of hers...3 times! I was the one chosen for the job! How cool is that! ;) This plate alone took me close to 4 hours, so multiply that 2 more times. That's a lot of painting! This one was my test drive. I just finished it on Saturday, so we'll see how it comes out. If the customer likes it, then I'll continue on. The final unveiling to come!

Plate set continued...finally!

Whitish with a hint of a red/brown color
Yellow/mustardy color with a hint of brown
I still have to paint one more of each salad and dinner plate!

Inside of bowl :) I'm glad I found this design while in Colorado ;)
Thankfully, the bowl didn't crack any further while being fired!

Merry "late" Christmas, Trista & Matt!

Trista and Matt's kitchen is decorated in a coffee theme. She wanted a spoon rest, so I gave her a spoon rest ;D We had decided to exchange gifts in March, while she was in Florida for our friend's wedding. Merry Christmas you two!

After firing!

Drumroll please! The finished product! Why it's a clock! ;) This was done with a "wash" technique. The shading didn't come out like I had imagined, but all -n- all, not a bad piece. Does it look too plain? I know there's a lot of empty space, and the apple isn't positioned as it should be to make it more centered. Any thoughts?

Before firing...

It's finally finished! Well, almost ;) This is the before firing and assembling photo of a clock I've painted for a friend. Picture of the completed project to come soon! It's hard to see now, but I did try to do some shading. Hopefully, it comes out okay. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Sushi! I love Sushi!

Do I have any sushi lovers out there? There's nothing like a nice, fresh, tender piece of raw tuna! I love it! Anyways, back to the point of this blog... This design is a replica from a sushi plate I took a picture of at a restaurant. The plate shape itself is not the traditional sushi style shape, but the painted design is similar to what you would see in most sushi establishments :)

Newest canvas painting continued...

You can still see some of the pencil...I'll have to try and erase it better. If that doesn't work, then a little touch up paint should do the trick!

Newest canvas painting

This is a painting in progress! I'm painting it for my bathroom. I'd like to change the color scheme in my bathroom eventually, and this will go nicely :D Can you guess the color scheme?

Tis the season for Valentine's

Even though I believe people should love each other at ALL times, and they shouldn't need a holiday to tell someone they love them, it is the season of Valentine's. =) I took some pictures of "Valentine's Day" pottery I did over the past few years. They're nothing special or extravagant, but cute none the less!
